We love to see how our clients wear their garments and to find out more about you.
Here is Bonnie in our merino wool maxi dress in black, we took the opportunity to ask her a few questions.
Tell us a bit about yourself...
I am an international aupair, yoga teacher, doula, environmental activist/organizer and long time model. I also sing and play the charango which I traded my ukulele for in the sacred valley of Peru. Traveling the world is my priority in personal education, and growth. I am constantly seeking new ways on how to use that privilege effectively through volunteering where I can. My next big volunteer project will be in Africa.
What Inspired your ethical and eco approach to fashion and style?
Back in 2009 I started making the slow transition to ethical clothing. The more knowledgeable I become the more I seek out ways to improve.
What are your top tips for eco-fashionista's?
Research where your wool, silk and so on comes from. I found a wonderful woman based in Oregon, USA who founded, "peace silk." I'd also encourage making your own clothes out of these materials. I find there is great appreciation for having made something of ethical value, yourself. Pay the extra amount for brands like Outsider, and vote for the world you want to see grow with every coin you spend. Their is a short documentary on YouTube called, "the new black." According to some top designers, the future of clothing will be made out of materials that are actually good for the skin, which I find so great. Finally, find clothing swaps, or host one. Much of my wardrobe comes from community swaps. Great way to build community, feel generous, and recycle.
Thanks Bonnie!
